Moving Beyond Facebook: Joining Forces with CHD Connects Hearts
For years our Hearts Unite the Globe (HUG) family has gathered in Facebook Groups. But lately it’s become harder to reach everyone—posts get buried, features disappear, and algorithms decide who sees what. I began to wonder if we could find a space truly built for us.
How Christy and I Connected
When Christy Pace first reached out, I had no idea we might become collaborators. Christy is a CHD grandmother who knows how isolating living with CHDs can feel. She told me she wanted a place where families, survivors, and supporters could connect freely and find reliable resources. Her passion struck me immediately.
Christy invited me to become an affiliate member of a brand-new platform she’d created: CHD Connects Hearts. After talking with her at length, it was a no-brainer—we had to join forces.
A Platform Designed for Our Community
CHD Connects Hearts is more than a website. It’s a private, ad-free gathering space where our stories and questions won’t be lost to algorithms.
✨ No ads. No tracking.
✨ Privacy you can trust.
✨ Guaranteed reach—everyone sees the posts (no “boosting,” no @everyone that still misses people).
Inside, you’ll find dedicated spaces for families, teens, fathers, adults with CHD, and bereavement support—plus areas for research and hospital collaborations.
Putting My Heart Behind It
When I expressed concern about the membership cost, Christy listened and lowered it to just $2 a month (with a 60-day free trial). Even though my affiliate membership was free, I joined as a regular CHD parent because I want to show my support and help this platform thrive.
Why I’m Excited to Join
I’m thrilled for HUG to be part of this new community, and I’d love for everyone in the CHD and bereaved communities to join me there. I won’t be leaving Facebook entirely, but I do want to start having deeper, more meaningful conversations on CHD Connects Hearts.
To make it fun and easy, I’ll be hosting a little “Cuppa & Conversation” every Tuesday morning at 8:30 AM CDT. I’ll have my Candy Cane Lane tea, and you can bring whatever beverage you like. We’ll gather for 30 minutes before the workday begins—a special way to connect on the new platform and start making new memories together.

Let’s keep our conversations and our support network strong, without worrying about disappearing features or “Facebook jail.”
